Maui: Consistently voted the ‘World’s Best Island’, Maui is widely regarded as one of the most romantic and enchanting destinations on earth. It is known as the ‘Valley Isle’ and was the ancient playground for Hawaiian Royalty. The island is largely rural with a small and wonderfully hospitable population and a host of attractions and natural wonders, including 42 miles of beautiful beaches and the largest dormant volcano crater in the world. There's so much to see and do on Maui that you really do need to start early.....early enough to see the sunrise.....a very special sunrise, in fact, the most glorious sunrise you'll ever see, atop Haleakala Crater. The drive from Kaanapali is approximately two hours but it really is well worth it. On the way down from Haleakala, enjoy breakfast then take in the glories of this special area of Maui. Visit a flower farm in Kula, shops and galleries in the old cowboy town of Makawao and the award-winning Tedeschi Winery. Head north then east to Hana. The world-renowned 'Road to Hana' is a destination in itself! Passing through fun and funky Pa'ia Town, the windsurfer capital of the universe, this spectacular drive soon leaves the known world behind and transports you through rain forests, past waterfalls and black sand beaches to the 'emerald' village that everyone calls Heavenly Hana. Some of the most unforgettable scenery in the world can be found in Hana, including Seven Pools. The road from Hana is markedly different with starkly etched lava streams from Mt Haleakala's last eruption some 200 years ago creating a landscape of barren beauty flowing in natural stone sculptures to the sea. Now it's time to head west along the southern route to what was historically the capital of the Hawaiian Islands, the old whaling town of Lahaina. Although designated a National Historic Landmark, Lahaina has a great mix of many historic treasures and the up-to-date fun and excitement visitors are looking for from art galleries, every kind of restaurant imaginable and a thriving nightlife. Every Friday night is art Night when you can get 'up close and personal' with some of the thousands of extraordinary creative people who choose Maui as the ideal place to inspire their artistic vision. Kaanapali is a fabulous region of this island where you will find beautiful resort hotels, shopping and spectacular golf courses, all offering magnificent views across the warm Pacific waters. From December to April it is a common sight to spot humpback whales frolicking.
Hawaii (Big Island): The 'Big Island' of Hawaii is a paradise playground where visitors can enjoy a stylish lifestyle and at the same time, witness nature at its most stunning. Thousands of square miles form a leisure wonderland, featuring breathtaking beaches, tropical forests, snow-capped mountains and famously awesome active volcanoes.
A visit to Volcanoes National Park, which has been described as a true wonder of the world, is the state's biggest attraction and is an absolute must. Within the national park's boundaries are a variety of scenic drives and 150 miles of hiking trails.
Tropical Hilo, on the north eastern side of the island is exceptionally lush and offers sweeping views of majestic Mauna Kea. The flourishing Hilo-Hamukua Heritage Coast, between Honoka'a and Hilo is a 45 mile drive through scenic byways, hidden waterfalls, former sugar mill towns and plantation villages. Exotic tropical flowers are in bloom from south Hilo throughout the flower-growing district of Puna. Many of the gardens and nurseries are open for tours.
The southern half of Hawaii's Big Islnad offers a different perspective with Kona Coffee Country and the southernmost tip in the United States - Ka Lae. The earliest voyages from Polynesia landed here and settled.
Kauai: The lush landscape of Kauai has led to it being called the ‘Garden Isle’, but it is also referred to as the ‘Island of Discovery’, and with good reason. A land of stunning natural contrasts, just waiting to be explored. Soaring emerald green mountains, sparkling rivers, canyons and caves, verdant tropical rainforests, a breathtaking coastline and secluded white sand beaches combine to make this magical place one of the world’s most relaxing locations. Kauai has enough to keep you busy for weeks but if you had to do everything in one day, here's how we would suggest you spend your time to see the very best of this specatucal island. Head fo the North Shore and the fame Napali Coast, exposed to the trade winds and big waves. Make sure you have your camera with you.......the views are simply intoxicating. A little further ahead is authentic old-time Hawaii in the form of charming little town of Hanalei. From the end of Hanalei Pier the mountains form a stunning backdrop on three sides, complete with rainforests, waterfalls, the mist hanging along the mountaintops and everywhere, rainbows. Most of the major resorts are located on the south side of the island along with many of the best beaches, golf courses and many activities. Drive south from the airport in Lihue towards the Poipu area, through the 'Tree Tunnel', into historic Old Koloa Town. Venture further along the south shore and spend time enjoying the exotic gardens and sweeping views of Kukuiolono Park. A few miles further down the road is the Hanapepe Lookout with fabulous views of the valley and the Hanapepe River. Waimea should be your next stop - the gateway to Waimea Canyon, the Grand Canyon of the Pacific and Koke's State Park. The Canyon is one of the most famous natural features of the islands......over a mile wide, 10 miles long and almost a mile deep, its many scenic lookouts provide some of the most breathtaking views in the islands. Kauai offers visitors a vast range of recreational activities, from scuba diving, snorkelling, sailing, fishing, golf, tennis, hiking, horseback riding, gardens, cultural exhibits and attractions and of course magnificent sightseeing.
